Mary-Louise Parker
Mary-Louise Parker (born August 2, 1964) is an American actress. After her Broadway debut as Rita in Craig Lucas's Prelude to a Kiss in 1990 (for which she won an Tony Award nomination), Parker came to prominence for roles in films such as Grand Canyon (1991), Fried Green Tomatoes (1991), The Client (1994), Bullets over Broadway (1994), A Place for Annie (1994), Boys on the Side (1995), The Portrait of a Lady (1996) as well as The Maker (1997). Parker took home the 2001 Tony Award as Best Actress in an independent film for her role in David Auburn's Proof of Catherine Llewellyn. In the NBC TV series The West Wing she starred in a second time as Amy Gardner, and was nominated for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Sustained Actress in the Drama Series. Her portrayal of Harper Pitt in HBO's acclaimed miniseries Angels in America in 2002 earned her the Primetime Emmy Award as well as an award from the Golden Globe.
