Julia Karin Ormond Bio

Julia Karin Ormond was born on January 4, 1965. Her fame was boosted by her performances in The Baby of Macon (1993), Legends of the Fall (94), First Knight (95), Sabrina (95), Sabrina (95) and Smilla's Sense of Snow (1997) and The Barber of Siberia (1998). She won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie for her role in the HBO film Temple Grandin (2010). Her principal role, as an antagonist in The Walking Dead: World Beyond (2020) is an additional highlight. Ormond was born in Epsom, Surrey, the daughter of Josephine who is a lab technician, as well as John Ormond, a stockbroker. She is the second of five children to her parents. She attended schools that were independent beginning with Guildford High School and then Cranleigh School, where early lead performances in Guys and Dolls and My Fair Lady started to attract attention. After a single year at art school, she was transferred to Webber-Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art, where she graduated in 1988. Ormond made her first appearance on British TV's 1989 show Traffik. It focused on illegal heroin trade between Far East as well as the streets of Europe. Ormond was the addicted daughter of the lead character, a Home Office minister in the UK government who was involved in fighting heroin importation. The first role he played earned rave reviews.
