Naomi Watts

 

Naomi Ellen Watts, born 28 September 1968 was a British actress from the UK. She made her debut in film in Australia in For Love Alone (1986), followed by three television shows: Hey Dad.. (1990), Brides of Christ (911) and Home and Away (1991) and Flirting (1991). After moving to the United States, Watts initially was a struggle as an actress acting in small-scale film until she was a part of David Lynch's psychological thriller Mulholland Drive in 2001 as an aspiring actress. This role started her rise to international prominence. Watts played the role of a depressed journalist in The Ring, a horror film that was made into a remake. Her performance as an emotional mother in Alejandro's 21 Grams (2003) was nominated for an Academy Award. Her fame grew with her leading parts in I Heart Huckabees (2004), King Kong (2005), Eastern Promises (2007) and The International (2009). Watts was nominated for an Academy Award as Best Actress for her performance in The Impossible (2012). In the decade of 2010 she was a part of such films such as Birdman (2014) St. Vincent (2014), While We're Young (2015), The Glass Castle (2017) and Luce (2019). Watts continued her acting career with big-budget roles, such as in Divergent (2015-2016).
