Anne Burrell

Anne W. Burrell (born 25th August, 1949) is an American television chef and host. She was also an instructor at the Institute of Culinary Education. Burrell hosts her own Food Network show Secrets of a Restaurant Chef and co-host of Worst Cooks in America. With her signature spiky blond hair and her pumped-up appearance, Anne Burrell eliminates the intimidation of eating out and offers straightforward, simple techniques to master for home cooks in her Food Network show Secrets of a Restaurant Chef. Burrell is a chef who has been in the kitchen for a long time. Burrell is also a veteran of New York City's best restaurants. Additionally, she has studied Italy's culinary tradition and culture, and the surrounding geography. While growing up in Upstate New York, Chef Burrell was captivated by cooking and food at an early age. She pursued her passion for food and restaurant by enroling in The Culinary Institute of America following her graduation in English and Communications from Canisius College, Buffalo NY. She states "I loved being a Culinary Institute of American student. I was awed by every moment." I couldn't seem to get enough pleasure from it. Following graduation of the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners and chef Burrell was able to spend a whole year in Italy studying and working at La Taverna del Lupo restaurant in Umbria as well La Bottega del 30 one Michelin rating in Tuscany. While in Italy, she developed a deep appreciation and understanding of Italian food and culture. It is a huge influence on how Burrell approaches her cuisine. Burrell was a member of the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board which brightens children who are facing challenges. She is also a Juvenile Diabetic Research Foundation celebrity ambassador, where she advocates for the awareness of juvenile diabetes. Burrell speaks on her culinary passion and shares her expertise in the culinary world as she frequently travels throughout the US in various roles such as mentors and speakers. Anne, throughout her entire cooking journey, has said that it is a privilege to be able to share this passion for the food industry with people.
