Pollyanna McIntosh

Pollyanna McIntosh is a native of Scotland. She was born in Portugal, Colombia and then returned to Scotland. That's where she began her stage debut in The Edinburgh Festival. At the age of 16, she moved to London where she became involved in filmmaking in the indie genre. (Her first professional gig on The Acid House was as a stoner with Irvine Welsh (1998)). She has also participated in theater as an actress as well as director. In 2004, she relocated to Los Angeles to direct "The Woolgatherer" which was a stage play in which Anne Dudek (a regular guest on Mad Men (2007)/Big Love (2006)) was the director. It received great reviews. She was then offered her first US film role as the manipulative and a born-again Christian, "Stacy", in Headspace (2005). She was then cast in the role of "Thumper Wint", a wild, born-again Christian, in Sex and Death 101 (2006) (Simon Baker/Winona Rider) as played by Heathers (1988). The reviewers were awed by her distinctive combination of power sexuality and irreverent humor. Exam (2009) that was the first, in which she worked with in London and LA was her next. Awarded a BAFTA nomination for Outstanding British Debut and winner at the Santa Barbara Film Fest of Best Independent, Pollyanna's performance was "smart and sassy, in equal parts the emotional core of the film" and her ability to see the "emotional vulnerability" of her ambitious and tough character. GQ only stated that Pollyanna McIntosh was a stunning actor and "extraordinarily skilled actor". Como Quien No Quiere La Cosa (2013) (As if you Don't Like it! ) is a funny South American farce in which she plays Brit actor Trevor Lock's angry wife. Shot in Peru and she is Spanish throughout. In Burke and Hare (2010), directed by John Landis, she plays Isla Fisher's bestie with Simon Pegg, Andy Serkis, Jessica Hynes, Tom Wilkinson and Tim Curry. Lucky McKee's The Woman (2011) was an enormous success. It received rave reviews and also topped the New York Times readers' favourite movies poll. For her performance, she was awarded three Best Actress awards, including Total Film's Frightfest Award and Fright Meter's.
